News Items:

  • There will be no game on Saturday, July 4th. The Gathering Place will be closed.

  • Please register with Joan Braender for the next team game at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, July 30th. Giving less experienced players a better chance of winning, the team games scheduled for  July. and August are called "Eight is Enough."  A-players (2000+ MPs) count as 3 points, B-players (500-2000 MPs) count as 2 points, and C-players (NLM under 500 MPs) count as 1 point. No team may have more than a total of 8 points for its 4 players. Additionally, the event will be stratified as follows:

    • A = 7 or 8 points

    • B = 5 or 6 points

    • C = 4 points

  • Mike McGowan is putting on an Italian Feast Buffet Dinner in the playing room before the regular July 14 Tuesday night game. Players are asked to arrive for dinner at 5:00 p.m.  Bridge play will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. Please call 770-487-9647 and ask to be listed for the meal. Estimated dinner cost is $7.50. Please spread the word about this evening of dinner and bridge to other players.

  • Becky Carl suffered a massive stroke on Tuesday, June 16th, and is at Southern Regional Hospital in Jonesboro. We wish her a speedy and full recovery.

  • An FCDBA Board Meeting will be held upon completion of play on Wednesday, July 8th.  The main topic of business will be the player survey taken several months ago and hearing from players who wish to express their concerns. All players are welcome to attend.

  • Congratulations to new Silver Life Master Polly Crowley who went over 1,000 master points in the June cycle. Way to go, Miss Polly!

  • Congratulations to new Life Master June Beers who recently achieved the rank by completing her gold point requirement at the Greenville Regional. Way to go, June!

  • Considerations are underway for again running a Mentoring Program. Whether you have participated in the past or not, your suggestions are requested for making such a program more effective than it has been in the past. Please put your ideas in an e-mail and send it to your Website Manager.

The Fayette/Coweta Duplicate Bridge Association:  The mission of the FCDBA is to promote and improve ACBL-sanctioned bridge play in the Fayette/Coweta area. The FCDBA provides the computers, printers, computer support, computer supplies, and website services for all of the ACBL sanctioned games in Fayette and Coweta. The FCDBA also plans and conducts special bridge events, recognizes player accomplishments, and provides financial support for worthwhile bridge-related needs. The FCDBA has a Board of Directors, a Mission Statement, and a Treasury. The treasury is used solely for promoting and improving bridge in the Fayette/Coweta area.  E-mail your suggestions to the FCDBA Board and they will be considered at the next meeting.

 

ACBL Rank Advancements: Rank advancements are updated around mid-month based on a file made available by the ACBL.

The Lifetime Achievement Award has been earned by 10 Fayette/Coweta area Life Masters. To receive this award, a Life Master must be at least 55 years old, have played primarily in Fayette/Coweta club games for 10 years or longer, and have earned at least 1,500 master points. The Lifetime Master Point Leaders list includes all players who have earned 300 or more points in their lifetime and whose club play is predominantly in Fayette/Coweta games. Click on Lifetime Master Point Leaders to view the list. This list is updated around the 8th of each month based on a file made available by the ACBL.

Zero Tolerance: The ACBL strongly recommends strong enforcement of its Zero Tolerance policy in sanctioned club games. The FCDBA strongly endorses Zero Tolerance for Unacceptable Behavior. Players should understand that the ACBL requires that Zero Tolerance practices be followed in all ACBL events. The FCDBA has issued a set of guidelines called Common Bridge Infractions & Misunderstandings and asks that it be read by all players.
